The goal of the plan is to promote reinvestment and redevelopment of the older established commercial areas within the City of Mount Rainier. The plan identifies opportunities for land assembly and infill development, and provides an implementation strategy to reach the plan’s vision. It also provides architectural guidelines to create an attractive and functional public realm.
The project area generally encompasses the buildings along the Rhode Island Avenue Corridor from the District line at Eastern Avenue to the traffic circle at 34th Street and the building frontages along 34th Street from Bunker Hill Road to just below Rhode Island Avenue. The plan area is approximately 11.46 acres.
