Classes, Camps & Workshops



There are several ways to view class offerings at Montpelier. All classes are listed on the SMARTlink pages at Montpelier classes can be located by browsing under Visual Arts, Performing Arts, or Lifestyle and Learning. Using the Advanced search allows searches for classes that begin in a selected date range. You can email the arts center at to receive the full class booklet either as a PDF or by mail.

Montpelier courses are unique!
Take classes in welding, raku-fired ceramics, bronze casting, cartooning, sewing, rug hooking as well as more traditional arts. All instructors are practicing artists. Independent study opportunities are available. Open darkroom sessions are also available. Contact the arts center for the month's schedule.  Courses for children, teens, and adults can be special one-day workshops addressing a particular theme or skill or six to eight week long sessions. Classes include a Voiceover Workshop and an expanded Digital Photography and Digital Animation lab for children (10 yrs & older) and adults. Learn how to use that new digital camera like a pro or make a short film.
Montpelier Arts Center offers special Summer Day Camps in the visual arts for children and teens. Held throughout the summer, registration for these and other Department of Parks and Recreation and recreation camps starts in February of each year.  Summer Day Camp booklets can be picked up from park facilities and county libraries. 

Home Schooled Students
Interested groups should contact the center to arrange for special programs or search the classes listed at SMARTlink or in the Prince George's County Parks and Recreation Guide published four times a year. 

Art Instructors
Artists with teaching experience and a great class idea are always welcome to send a proposal to the arts center. Proposals should include length of class, intended age range, goals of class, a resume, and images of instructor's and/or student's work.
