at M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation Patuxent River Park

Riverdale, MD – The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince George’s County cordially invites you to attend the ceremony for the reopening of Selby’s Landing Boat Ramp and Dock.

WHAT: Ceremony for the Reopening of Selby’s Landing Boat Ramp and Dock

WHEN: Tuesday, April 23, 2019, 2PM

WHERE: Patuxent River Park, 17272 Croom Airport Rd, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772

“The ramp and dock were in need of complete replacement. The grants from the [Maryland] Department of Natural Resources and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service were used to demolish the old concrete ramp and dock,” said Thomas “Tommy” Baden, Patuxent River Park Facility Director, M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation. “We raised the new dock one foot to accommodate for sea level rise and rebuilt a wider ramp with a longer timber dock that is ADA accessible,” Baden stated.

Renovations to the dock were funded from two sources through the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Federal Sport Fish Restoration Fund provided $265,136.25 and $88,378.75 was received from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ Waterway Improvement Fund for a total of $353, 515.

The Patuxent River is the most important freshwater tidal estuary in the Chesapeake Bay region. M-NCPPC works cooperatively with federal, state and local agencies, and conservation organizations to ensure the Patuxent River remains one of Maryland's premier river greenways.
