Gymnastics
The Department of Parks and Recreation offers various developmental and competitive programs offered at Fairland Sports and Aquatics Complex, and the Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex for youth in Gymnastics. All of our Gymnastics programs are facilitated under the governance of the National Governing Body of USA Gymnastics.
Offerings at Fairland
- Pre-Team Levels for Boys Gymnastics, Girls Gymnastics & Trampoline/Tumbling
- USA Gymnastics Team for Boys, Girls, Trampoline & Tumbling as well as the Xcel Team for Girls
- Fairland Team Gymnastics Programs are by invitation only and are year round programs.

USAG Girls Team
Invitation to the team can be made by class teacher or through a tryout (Fairland class students may be invited to the team any time during the year)
Girls Hot Shots
- An invitation only class for girls ages 4 to 6 years.
- Gymnasts come to class one day a week and focus on building strength, flexibility, and basic gymnastics skills/progressions.
Girls D-Team
- This is an invitation only pre-team program for girls ages 5 to 9 years old.
- Gymnasts participate in two 2 hour/week practices.
- The focus is on building upon the strength, flexibility and basic gymnastics progressions taught in Hot Shots and to prepare gymnast for a competitive future.
Girls Compulsory (Level 2–5)
- Invitation only competitive program for girls ages 6 -10.
- These gymnast practice 10–12 hours/week.
- Practices consist of strength/flexibility training along with focus on gymnastics skill progression that will prepare gymnast to compete in USAG Level 2, 3, 4 & 5 Compulsory programs.
Girls Optional (Level 6-10)
- Invitation only competitive program.
- These gymnasts' practice 24–30hours/week depending on the level.
- The focus is on strength/flexibility and skill progression to prepare gymnast to compete in the USAG optional levels. These gymnasts compete in local, state, regional and national competitions.
Xcel Girls Team
The Xcel Program is to provide gymnast with the opportunity to compete gymnastics in a more flexible and less time demanding environment.
Xcel Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum & Diamond
This is an invitation only competitive team. These gymnast practice 6 -8 hours a week. The practices consist of skill building, strength, and flexibility conditioning as well as practicing routines.
USAG Boys Team
Boys Hot Shots: An invitation only class for boys ages 4 to 6 years. Gymnasts come to class one day a week and focus on building strength, flexibility, and basic gymnastics skills/progressions.
Boys D-Team: This is an invitation only pre-team program for boys ages 5 to 8 years old. Gymnasts participate in two 2 hour/week practices. The focus is on building upon the strength, flexibility and basic gymnastics progressions taught in Hot Shots and to prepare gymnast for a competitive future.
Boys Compulsory Team Levels 4, 5, 6, 7: Invitation only competitive program for boys. These gymnast practice 8 - 12 hours/week and compete in the appropriate compulsory level. Gymnasts continue to develop gymnastics skills on each of the 6 Men's Olympic events while they continue to increase strength and flexibility.
Boys Optional Levels 8 to 10: Invitation only competitive program. These gymnasts' practice 16 hours/week depending on the level. The focus is on strength/flexibility and skill progression to prepare gymnast to compete in the USAG boys optional levels. These gymnasts compete in local, state, regional and national competitions.
Trampoline and Tumbling
The trampoline and tumbling program consist of Trampoline (individual trampoline & synchronized trampoline), double mini trampoline, and tumbling (also known as power tumbling). This program consists of routines involving flips, twist, and repeated jumping without pauses.
T & T Hot Shots: An invitation only class for students ages 4 to 6 years. Gymnasts come to class one day a week and focus on building strength, power, flexibility, and basic gymnastics skills/progressions.
T & T D-Team: This is an invitation only pre-team program for boys & girls ages 5 to 8 years old. Gymnasts participate in two 2 hour/week practices. The focus is on building upon the power, strength, flexibility, and basic trampoline & tumbling progressions taught in Hot Shots to prepare gymnast for a competitive future.
Compulsory Trampoline Levels 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & Tumbling Levels 1 - 7: Invitation only competitive program for boys & girls. Gymnast practice 8-10 hours/week and compete in the appropriate compulsory level. Gymnasts continue to develop basic skills in safe and progressive way. These gymnasts compete in local, state, regional competitions and national.
Optional Levels 8 to 10 and Open: Invitation only competitive program. These gymnasts' practice 16+ hours/week. The focus is on continued skill progression and tailored routines to prepare gymnast to compete in the optional levels. These gymnasts compete in local, state, regional, national, and international competitions.

Twinkle Stars
- An invitation only class for girls ages 4 to 6 years.
- Gymnasts come to class one day a week and focus on building strength, flexibility, and basic gymnastics skills/progressions.
Pre-Team
- This is an invitation only pre-team program for girls ages 5 to 9 years old.
- Gymnasts participate in two 2 hour/week practices.
- The focus is on building upon the strength, flexibility and basic gymnastics progressions taught in Hot Shots and to prepare gymnasts for a competitive future.
Girls Compulsory Team (Levels 2-5)
- Invitation only competitive program for girls ages 6 -10.
- These gymnasts practice 10 - 12 hours/week.
- Practices consist of strength/flexibility training along with a focus on gymnastics skill progression that will prepare gymnasts to compete in USAG Level 2, 3, 4 & 5 Compulsory programs.

- Ages 8-16 (5 competitive levels)
- This is an invitation only competitive team.
- These gymnasts practice 6 -8 hours a week.
- The practices consist of skill-building, strength, and flexibility conditioning as well as practicing routines.
USAG Boys Team
Blazing Comets
- An invitation only class for boys ages 4 to 6 years.
- Gymnasts come to class one to two days a week and focus on building strength, flexibility, and basic gymnastics skills/progressions.
Level 3 Pre-Team
- This is an invitation only pre-team program for boys ages 4 to 7 years old.
- Gymnasts participate in two 2 hour/week practices.
- The focus is on building upon the strength, flexibility and basic gymnastics progressions taught in Blazing Comets and to prepare gymnasts for a competitive future.
Boys Compulsory Team (Levels 4-6)
- Invitation only competitive program for boys.
- These gymnasts practice 8 - 12 hours/week and compete in the appropriate compulsory level.
Boys Optional Levels (7-10)
- Invitation only competitive program.
- These gymnasts practice up to 16 hours/week depending on the level.
- The focus is on strength/flexibility and skill progression to prepare gymnasts to compete in the USAG boys optional levels.
- These gymnasts compete in local, state, regional, and national competitions.
