Riverdale, MD – The Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince George’s County, announces the cancellation of all outdoor programming from noon to 8:00 pm on August 2, except for a few listed below, due to the heat advisory issued by the National Weather Service. The safety of our patrons and staff is our top priority, and we encourage everyone to stay cool and hydrated.

While most outdoor programs are canceled, some events will continue with additional safety protocols in place:

• The Boat Ride scheduled for noon at Bladensburg Waterfront Park (4601 Annapolis Road, Bladensburg, MD 20710) will proceed as planned.
• The Wonderful World of Watkins at Watkins Regional Park (301 Watkins Park Drive, Upper Marlboro, MD 20774) will close at 1 pm.
• Movies in the Parks at Watkins Regional Park will start at 8 pm.

All indoor and outdoor pools and cooling centers will remain open and operate under regular scheduled hours. Advanced reservations are encouraged to ensure patrons can access the pools. Drop-in/day admission will remain available until the pool’s operating capacity. View the list of indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities and cooling centers below.
