A virtual talk presented by author historian Zaakir Tameez. This outstanding book is about the courageous Massachusetts senator Charles Sumner who is remembered for receiving a physical beating while serving in Congress and for his leadership during and after the U.S. Civil War for civil rights. Drawing from hundreds of letters, newspapers, and speeches, Mr. Tameez has created a remarkable portrait of a complex man who faced many personal challenges.
