By partnering with arts organizations both large and small, we are able to provide resources and opportunities to Prince George's County residents. These cooperative working partnerships allow both organizations to better serve the larger community, share responsibility for achieving a specific goal, and provide a sustained "win-win" relationship for everyone involved.
B-Roll Media and Arts
B-Roll is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free-of-cost media and arts training to under-served youth ages 13 through 21. Their goal is to provide youth with a positive recreational and educational experience while they learn skills that will allow them to enter the media arts workforce. The Department of Parks and Recreation is proud to partner with B-Roll Media and Arts to provide more opportunities for teens in our county by providing free office space and access to classroom spaces in our community centers.
Bowie Center for the Performing Arts
The M-NCPPC entered into a Joint Use Agreement with the City of Bowie, the Board of Education of Prince George’s County, and the Bowie Regional Arts Vision Association in 2006 to fund and support the construction of the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts. The M-NCPPC maintains a seat on the Center’s Governance Board to assist with oversight and consultation. Through the agreement, we are allocated limited fee-waived usage of the Center, through which we offer affordable performing arts programs to area residents.
The Clarice at the University of Maryland
In 1994, The M-NCPPC entered into an agreement with the University of Maryland College Park to provide funding for construction of The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, beginning a long history of collaboration, including:
The Prince George's County Suite
The Prince George’s County Suite is a large dance studio operated by the Department of Parks and Recreation within The Clarice, equipped with a sprung floor, mirrors, portable barres, and an upright piano. It is available for free use by non-profit, community-based arts organizations based in Prince George’s County. The studio is suitable for dance and drama rehearsals, auditions, and workshops. Community use is limited to performing arts activities and is permitted between Labor Day and Memorial Day, contingent upon availability. The Community Room is not available during the University of Maryland holidays, and it is not available during University of Maryland football game days due to parking restrictions.

Community Access Rent Credit Program at The Clarice
The Department of Parks and Recreation manages a program of providing rental credits at The Clarice. The program serves to make rental events at this premier site accessible to non-profits and municipal partners located in Prince George’s County, and also to enable us to provide affordable performing arts education programs to youth in our county.

Joe’s Movement Emporium & Creative Suitland
Over the past two decades, Joe’s Movement Emporium and the Arts and Cultural Heritage Division have worked together on numerous collaborations to connect our communities with meaningful experiences in the arts. Highlights among initiatives at Joe’s we’ve worked to support are Creative Works, NextLook (a partnership between Joe’s Movement Emporium and The Clarice), a co-presentation of the One Mile Radius Project, the Theater Tech Program, internship programs, and Art Lives Here programs presented under Joe’s Movement Emporium’s leadership.
Nepal America Film Festival
The Nepal America International Film Festival (NAIFF) is an annual film event organized by the Nepal America Film Society. Every year, it brings together more than three thousand film enthusiasts from Maryland and the greater Washington DC region, including filmmakers, volunteers, community leaders, film and community organizations, and businesses. The festival showcases all genres of films, including features, documentaries, animation, experimental films, and shorts from Nepal, the United States, and other countries. The Arts and Cultural Heritage Division is an in-kind sponsor of this Festival.
Prince George’s Philharmonic
The Arts and Cultural Heritage Division has enjoyed a decades-long relationship in support of the Prince George’s Philharmonic. In addition to managing their project charge contract, we provide the Philharmonic free office space in order to make classical music accessible to our residents and provide opportunities for professional training in music to musicians living in the county.
Prince George’s Community College
Prince George's Community College's annual Bluebird Blues Festival returns in September 2019. We are pleased to contribute to the much-anticipated event once again by providing free, hands-on art activities for all ages, as well as support through in-kind equipment loans.
Riverdale Public Art Initiative
Coordinated by Public Art staff in the Arts and Cultural Heritage Division, The M-NCPPC supports the Riverdale Public Art Initiative by providing use of our land as public art sites within the Riverdale Area. The ongoing initiative was launched in 2015 as a collaborative program sponsored by the Town of Riverdale Park and managed by the Hyattsville Community Development Corporation.
Project Charge Contracts
Each year, through the M-NCPPC budget approval process, the Prince George’s County Council apportions M-NCPPC funds to be set aside to establish service contracts with a number of arts organizations. The Arts and Cultural Heritage Division works closely with each of these organizations to ensure that county residents enjoy quality, accessible arts programs. Totaling $508,000 in FY22, these contracts include:

Summer 2021 Teen Arts Partnerships
Prince George’s County is full of creativity, and one thing that we all agree on is that young artists should have access to opportunities to learn and grow through experiences in the arts. For the summer of 2021, The Arts and Cultural Heritage Division partnered with four leading, local arts organizations to offer courses for teens in media, visual, and performing arts. All of the programs were free of charge, some through competitive selection processes, and some through open enrollment. These partnerships included:

Printing Services for Prince George’s County Arts Non-Profits
Printing support is temporarily unavailable while the Department of Parks and Recreation Print Shop is on limited operations due to COVID-19 safety measures.
The Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County, Arts and Cultural Heritage Division provides fee-waived printing services to Prince George’s County-based non-profit arts organizations as a service to strengthen the cultural life of our communities. Eligible arts organizations may request services under the following guidelines:
- Organizations are limited to printing in black and white only, on standard weight copy paper only, on white or colored paper as available.
- Organizations may request no more than the equivalent of $500.00 in services per fiscal year. The fiscal year begins on July 1st and ends on June 30th.
- Basic folding, single-signature booklets, and stapling services are available.
- Print requests will generally be completed within a 3-week timeline.
